Using a single door sensor for double bi-fold doors

My master bedroom closet uses double bi-fold doors, similar to this:

I have a habit of leaving them open, which drives my fiancee insane so I decided to put door sensors on them and make Homeseer flash the lights and speak "CLOSE THE CLOSET DOOR" after they have been open for >1min.

I had two of the Ecolink Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor (DWZWAVE2-ECO) but rather than having to use 2 sensors I figured I would see if I could utilize the hard-wire contacts that are on each sensor and wire in an additional magnetic reed switch to catch the other door. So I got a $5 NC/NO window contact switch from Amazon and wired it up to the Ecolink sensor. I mounted the Ecolink to catch the right-side door and the hard-wire magnetic reed switch to catch the left-side door.

When I open either side, it trips the sensor and triggers the HomeSeer event to yell at me...which is awesome - I haven't made my fiancee mad even once since I installed this a month ago.

The only issue I have is that if I open one door, then open the other, for some reason HomeSeer thinks the doors are now shut. So I have to open/close one of them again to get it back to the proper status. Any ideas how I can get it to work properly even when both doors are open at the same time?
