Supermicro low energy server.

This is not directly home automation related, but that is what I used it for.

I have been running my HomeSeer server on a VM under Windows Server 2012r2. When I installed it, I built two identical machines so that I would have a backup. I need to free up some rack space and finances so one needs to go. Here is the link to the item on NewEgg, I bought it two years ago. Here is the link to it on the Supermicro website.

It currently has Windows Server 2012r2 Standard installed on a Seagate 10,000rpm 2-1/2" enterprise drive. You would be responsible for the licensing or re-installation of another operating system. I can supply installation media, but no license key. The (4) 3-1/2" bays can be unpopulated, or I can supply up to (2) Hitachi 4TB drives and/or up to (4) Seagate 2TB drives, in any combination, if desired. It currently has 2x 4TB and 2X 2TB drives. The 4TB drives are about a year old and the 2TB drives are about 2-3.

It is equipped with an Intel Xeon E3-1230 processor and 16GB of ECC UDIMM RAM. It can support up to 32GB. It runs between 45-55 watts under moderate to light load, each 3-1/2 drive adds about 5 watts. It also has a dedicated IPMI port for full console level management over IP.

These servers are rock solid and reliable. Over the last 5 years I have worked on deploying nearly a hundred without a single failure. If you want something to trust for home automation, this is the way to go. The brother to this one has had 100% up time since it was installed.

I didn't include pictures, because it is still mounted. It is in very good physical condition and probably has less than 100 hours on it as it has sat idle since I purchased it. I only test and update it about once a month. If you want pictures, let me know. This is a 1U rackmount chassis and includes the rails, if desired.

I don't know how to price it, with processor, drive and RAM it cost about $1000 to build. If you are interested PM or email me and we can discuss it.
