Ping settings question

I am using this plugin to ping my 2 phones, and when they are online they trigger a event to switch a virtual switch to home.
Ideally I want this to go 'online' as quick as possible after connecting as that virtual switch turning from away to home triggers other things too. On the other hand I do not want to have hundreds of unnecessary actions, looking at my log I can see a lot of 'traffic' which I can probably reduce

I have set ping failures to 1, and ping interval to 10 seconds.

What would a good setting be ?
