I have a 14 YO daughter who has a LOT of trouble getting up in the morning. So, I created the following series of events:
At her Wakeup time, turn her bedroom lights on 40% and start playing pleasant music through her Sonos.
5 minutes later turn her lights to 75% and make a gentle voice announcement that it's time to get up.
5 minutes later turn her lights to 100% and make a more stern announcement that it's time to get up.
5 minutes later start flashing all her lights and lamps and make a really stern announcement. This repeats every 30 seconds so she can't just get up and turn her lights off. They will start flashing again. The flashing is very annoying.
5 minutes later start playing an extremely obnoxious series of random sound effects like sirens, jack hammers, explosions, alien noises, etc.
She has to come downstairs and push a button on a UPB keypad in my bedroom to turn off the noise and set her lights to normal. If she pushes the button within 20 minutes of her wakeup time, her favorite radio station will start playing through her Sonos. She LOVES music so that's a good motivation for her. Later than 20 minutes - no music.
If this doesn't work, I'm going to be looking for advice for building a device that will dump her out of bed into the floor! 😀
