I wanted to have remote start on my car but hooking up an actuator like other people did would be problematic as my car requires you to press and hold lock for a while before pressing the remote start button. Sorry for the low quality on the video but i dont have any video editing software and didnt want people to see my plate number.
I still need to build sometime of safety device to prevent anyone from starting it while its in the garage (side note anyone doing any type of car detection?)
How it was done, basically I ordered a spare remote synced it to the car then removed the buttons and wired some solid state relays using the my sensors hardware. Then I created an event in homeseer to press the lock button for a set period of time, stop for a second then press the start button. The panic button is also hooked up to a relay and will be linked to my home alarm eventually so the car alarm will go off whenever the home alarm is triggered. Note that I did not hook up the unlock button as I was afraid of security issues.
