Hello:

I'm just doing an install on a new windows 7 system for a remote speaker system. Its a brand new build and everything's been done by the book - no OS tweaking - but the options dialog comes up misshapen and I'm unable to configure it. Any suggestions?

Two pictures - the problem dialog box vs a proper one.

On/Off stopped working, dimmer works

Hi,

Since a few days now, I noticed that the ON/OFF Insteon commands have no effect. However, dimming is functional.
I've attempted various "mini resets", but the problem still persists.

An example below where 100% or 0% doesn't work, but 1% or 47% does.

Code:

Dec-05 22:38:33                Insteon        ** An error occurred in this plug-in. The details have been written to the log file - C:\Program Files (x86)\HomeSeer HS3\Config\Insteon Error Report.Log

Dec-05 22:30:55                Device Control        Device: F2 Office Office Lights to Dim (value)% (47) by/from: CAPI Control Handler

Running recent HS3 and Insteon 3.0.6.0
I've attempted:
- computer reboot
- Insteon adapter, power cycle
- Insteon, "Reset and Reprogram Interface"
- Insteon, "Update Interface Database"
- Downgrade to beta 3.0.x.0
- Upgrade back to 3.0.6.0

Insteon error log was generation was triggered 4 times:
Line 1: Insteon Plug-in Error Log Generated 12/4/2016 1:44:32 PM
Line 1468: Insteon Plug-in Error Log Generated 12/4/2016 7:20:02 PM

Any advice of what I should check next would be appreciated.

Thank you

Power fail recovery - return to last state?

$

Hello,

I'm using BLOccupied, generally all good, does what I need - so thank you!

I'm running this at a remote site, and of course, the first week I have issues, which is causing my HS3pro to occasionally get rebooted (due to unrelated power issue).

Even though my event to run and stop the simulation are included in HS's power fail recovery, this doesn't actually re-start the sim.

The reason I suspect is because my event is set to run at "sunset" (a hard time), and if the fail happens after that time, it must assume (know?) that event already ran, so it doesn't re-run it. Conversely, the "stop sim" event also runs at a hard time.

Ultimately, what I'm looking for is a way to have this plugin know it's last state when it comes back from a power cycle and return to that state (although this won't necessarily run my event, which also turns on a phantom device called "BLOccupied SIM"... which is the device it "turns on" when the sim stops, via the plugin's UI... so I'm not sure it would inherently turn that device's state to the "off" state when running, as it would seem I had to define that in the "start" event myself). I'm not sure if there is a better way to know if the plugin (sim) is running or not.

Anyway, I didn't see anyone else mention this, my apologies if this has already been discussed and I missed the post.

How to store data in a script

$

Suppose I have a script that needs to build a small data store that gets populated with additional data each time it's called. So the first time it's called, it stores "this string". The second time, it stores "that string". I want the script to know that there are now two strings, and what their values are. And so on. So the third time it's called with "another string", it should be able to write all 3 strings to the log. (This is just an example for clarity, not what I'm actually doing.)

I tried declaring a public collection and adding to it each time the script is called, and the data is persistent as long as the calls happen fairly close together. But if the calls are separated by a minute or two, the script no longer has access to the data presented in the previous calls. So I guess some sort of garbage collection is being done. But how do I retain that data and prevent it from being destroyed?

What's the right way to do this?

Advice Needed: RTC For Zee-S2

After some annoying power issues with my WLAN connected Zee-S2, I am considering installing an RTC board. Have been going through the forums and have seen this referenced a few times but couldn't find any definitive information so I thought I would ask.

What would you all recommend using? I found this item on Amazon; its a HAT that allows full GPIO passthrough. Has anyone tried this and is it compatible with the existing ZWave daughterboard?

Devices not showing up

$

Just picked up the plugin, trying to get it to work on iOS10 6S with Eve. HS3 is up to date running on Windows 10. Devices that I'm trying to add are Insteon switches

Add the homeseer bridge device via Eve, works fine. See the bridge in homekit and eve

As soon as I add a device, it doesn't update with any accessories.

Looking in the log files, I see these entries. I've removed the and re-paired with devices, and if I have any devices in when I try to pair, pairing fails.

Any ideas?

Schlage BE-468 Status Unknown

Hello! Long-time lurker, seldom poster.
I've got a brand new Schlage BE-468 Z-wave deadbolt from Homeseer (thanks, Black November!) which seems to be working great except for one thing --
Whenever I lock or unlock the lock via HS3 (whether from the device list, an event, or HS Touch) it only displays the correct status of Locked or Unlocked for about 5 seconds before changing to "Unknown."
The status works fine if I operate it via the manual inside knob, or the keypad outside, but if I operate it via HS, the status just doesn't stick.
Even the Log confirms what I'm seeing:

Dec-05 10:41:13 PM Z-Wave Device: Outside Courtyard Door Lock Set to UNKNOWN
Dec-05 10:41:07 PM Z-Wave Device: Outside Courtyard Door Lock Set to 255
Dec-05 10:41:04 PM Device Control Device: Outside Courtyard Door Lock to Lock (255)

as does BLLock:
12/5/2016 10:41:13 PM Information Front Door Invalid State
12/5/2016 10:41:07 PM Information Front Door Locked
(Though for some reason BLLock thinks it's a BE469... not sure if that's relevant)

Anybody have any ideas? I've added a couple of events to check to make sure it's not already locked before sending the lock command and vice versa, but I'm not sure what to try next.

Generic Command&Status Interface to HS

Hi folks, given the native json interface is totally lacking functionality and some commands flat out do not work (http://board.homeseer.com/showthread...77#post1278477) I am forced to write my own. sigh.

Before I do, has anyone already written a generic (and free/open) command interface into HS? Simply put it would enable external calls to HS methods/functions. hmmm....I wonder if in vb.net you can pass a function as a parameter ala this...http://dotnetref.blogspot.com.au/200...-in-vbnet.html

I'll be interfacing it into commandfusion iviewer which can handle a range of interfaces. Json would be ideal, but plain text is fine too.

If anyone has some code to start me off that would be great...I'm sure someone has already done most if not all this before and I'd hate to reinvent the wheel.

Bug or Misunderstanding on My Part?

I'm trying to code up a simple event which will set a virtual device to 'On' or 'Off' depending on whether the current day is a 'holiday' (as I define it). My first test is like this:

Code:

IF This event is MANUALLY triggered
AND IF The date is ...
    12/25/2016

THEN Control a Device
Virtual Device Control Holiday Virtual Device      On

If I make sure that my Virtual Holiday Device is set to off and then I manually execute this event, the event always changes to 'On'.

I've tried this event with other conditions, such as if the day is the first Monday in September, and this does *not* turn the device on. It only seems to be a problem when I use the date setting. Before I report a bug, I just want to make sure that I'm not overlooking something obvious.

Thanks.

Newbie S2 beginner's questions.

I'm completely new here so please bear with me. I have a working X10 system with a few modules and switches. Some macros and timers. I'm thinking of getting a Zee S2 to control the X10 stuff and slowly start adding Z-wave controls. IT seems it will handle five plugins and I would need the zwave,x10,touch plugins to start. Is there anything else I NEED? The software is built-in as far as I can tell.

I also just ordered an Echo dot and wonder if it will work with the S2 just like with the more powerful controllers and will it also need a plugin or just a skill on the Alexa side?

I don't see a HS for Dummies sub-forum but I think I'm going to need one real soon:confused:.

Thanks in advance.

Cloud storage - yes or no

ok so I for one do not like the word CLOUD.. It bothers me when my wife or others say ... Just put it in the "Cloud"... i usually snap back and say.. yeah so it is just sitting there in infinite storage... then ask.. Do you know what a cloud is and they reply.. no i dont have too.. its up there..

so am I being a skurdy cat? shall I embrace cloud storage?

where I am going with this is simple. I have 0 offsite backup for my family pics/data. If I lost it wife would definitely not talk to me anymore...

I currently run Server 2016 Standard with Essentials Role. In addition I run Stablebit drive pool on top of that.

Love it. to me I dont need raid performance of raid 10/60 or whatever...

SBDP is simple.. put drives of same or different size in and pool them.
in a 6 drive system as an example you then can say..
Family Pics - duplicate onto all 6
family data - duplicate onto all 6
music - duplicate on 2
DVR shows - do not duplicate but will place files across all 6 so if one drive goes you dont loose say all of them...

so with that they do have a cloud pool product now and I am thinking if I purchase that and then add in all the free storage cloud space I have or add more, place my stuff there for offsite storage.

now an alternative to that is I can build a machine that utilizes very little power and place it at a friends house. Guy at work uses some torrent software that replicates between the 2 systems. This way you have an offsite storage and you dictate the storage. Of course it has to be a good bud, one you bribe with beverages and or you reciprocate and setup the same for him if he chooses.

so what are your thoughts and...
list up free cloud space places and ill keep them all in a big list here

HDMI Matrix

Anyone have recommendations on a HDMI matrix (4x4). I'm now on my second Monoprice matrix and it's starting to fail again. I have found alternatives online for the same price but fear they may not last either. I know there are some options out there for thousands of dollars but rather not have to pay that much. If it's the only good alternative I might not have a choice.

Updates from recent firmware change?

Hello,
I'm having problems getting the Harmony Hub to work recently. I'm guessing its from a new Logitech update, or perhaps not. In the testing I have removed all devices and activities and I am trying to read them. I get all devices to show up but I only get 5 to show up.

My main problem is right now I can't get Harmony to work. The log shows what is below, it appears to be working but there is no control through the Harmony Hub. It works fine both through the remote and the iphone app.

Anyone have any other troubleshooting tips? If this is a firmware update issue, and word on the fix progress? I'm available to test it.

Thanks

Joel

B for brilliant! Dzjee,

If anyone had any doubt or lost any creativity in what you can do with your HomeSeer system then I challenge you to think again! You really have no idea!

====> Enter the HomeSeer MQTT Plugin

The ability to create topics (events in other words) out of dumb devices and make the system use less resources and smarter by avoiding complex events and/or scripts. I will let others define this but my simple explanation is first off, is when MQTT was introduced to HomeSeer forums it was all about sensors, weather and the like! Now that put off alot of the likes of me :) until I had look again by searching anything I could do with my HomeSeer system ===> MQTT to ==> anything. What's the catch? No. 1 It's light weight thus it does not hog the system like other prolocols. 2. Read all about it!

Now picture this!! ===> You enter your DoorBird devices, Cameras, lights, Tasker plugin devices and so much more! I tried it the Kodi2mqtt .........spare you the rest.
HSTouch? ====> In the HomeSeer events ,show a screen by itself ,Then MQTT : publish a custom topic ...........................and the list goes ooooooooon!

You can even have more fun if your HomeSeer system is Windows by also adding EventGhost, the HomeSeer EventGhost plugin and EventGhost-MQTT Client for it can subcribe to multipal Brokers!

Need we say more?

Best of regards you all.

Video playback stops when HS speaks

I've noticed that when I have the plugin enabled and I'm watching a video that even with "Send Speak Actions as XBMC GUI Notifications: No" whenever HS speaks playback stops, if TV is off Kodi will turn TV on. Is there any sort of workaround for this?

I just upgraded off my HomeTroller-SE3 to windows 10 and no longer need my HomeTroller-SE3 with XP. It has an upgraded pro grade 8GB disk/card and works good. Comes with power cord and I will clean up any misc things left behind.

NO LICENSE FOR HOMESEER. THIS IS JUST XP AND THE HARDWARE.

Taking best offers.
